Are you friendly, patient, and looking for a role where every shift brings meaningful connection and enjoyable experiences? We’re looking for a Community Support Companion to work alternative weekly hours, supporting an individual who loves arts and crafts, browsing charity shops, and relaxing with café trips.
This role offers flexible working days, with Week 1 at 10 hours (split into two 5-hour days) and Week 2 at 6 hours (two 3-hour days). You’ll be providing gentle community support and light domestic tidying while helping create positive, engaging outings. Your support will sometimes involve accompanying a wheelchair user on longer days out, and full training will be required to ensure you feel confident supporting someone who experiences seizures.
If you enjoy crafting, exploring small local treasures, and being part of someone’s independence and everyday joy, this could be the perfect role for you. Join us in making a real difference—one relaxed coffee, charity-shop find, or creative moment at a time.
Duties include:
- Housekeeping
- Shopping
- Transportation
- Companionship
Candidate qualities:
- Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality
- Reliable with good timekeeping
- Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
- Hygienic, tidy and well organised
- Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
- Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
- Honest and cheerful
- Creative
- Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
- Able to always work to high standards of health & safety
Additional requirements
Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours
Notes:
All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required.
If you are successful in your application for this position, you will be either engaged directly or employed by the individual employer and not by Independent Lives. The role may be offered on an employed or self-employed basis, depending on the suitability and agreement with the employer. If the role is employed, you will be entitled to holiday pay and issued an employment contract.
Please note: If you do not hear back within three weeks of applying, unfortunately your application has not been successful on this occasion.
