Job summary
We are looking to employ a full-time qualified Health Care Assistant to work within surgery. The successful candidate will work well as part of a team or using own initiative.
Working under the direct supervision of the Practice Nurse/GP and strictly in accordance with specific guidelines and protocols, the Healthcare Assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmed of patient care.
Duties and Responsibilities
Main Duties of the Job and Job Description
• New Patient Health Checks
• ECG Recording
• BP Monitoring
• Urinalysis
• Phlebotomy
• Ensure specimens are Labelled and bagged ready for collection with the necessary paperwork completed.
• Ensure clinical waste collection runs smoothly, reporting any problems to the Practice Nurse.
• Ensure sharps bins are ready for collection.
• Restocking/maintenance of equipment.
• Restocking of clinical areas and consulting rooms.
• Chaperoning duties
• Assisting the assessment and surveillance of patient’s health and well-being
• Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
• Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being
• Provide lifestyle advice to patients making any necessary referrals within the practice.
• Home visiting housebound patients for reviews and blood tests.
• Health Promotion
• Long term condition management
• Annual Health Checks
Person Specification
Experience
Essential
• 12 months experience as a HCA within a primary care environment
• Good knowledge and understanding of QOF
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
