About the Role
We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Production Technician to join the Operations Department at Dungeness A Power Station. In this contract position, you will support safe and compliant operational activities in line with Site Licence requirements, statutory regulations and company procedures.
This role is ideal for individuals with industrial or nuclear experience who want to apply their skills in a highly regulated environment while gaining further competence as a Suitably Qualified and Experienced Person (SQEP).
Key Responsibilities
Perform core production and operational duties safely within your demonstrated competence.
Assist with operational tasks and support fault investigations as required.
Undertake duties as a Suitably Qualified and Experienced Person (SQEP) for designated plant items.
Conduct Ionising Radiation Regulations (IRR) and Radioactive Substances Act (RSA) surveys following established procedures.
(Post-defuelling sites require Health Physics Monitor Level 5 competence.)
Provide technical support to project design, implementation and ongoing operational improvements.
Support additional site responsibilities where necessary, including site security tasks.
Fulfil an appointed role within the Site Emergency Scheme.
Carry out duties as a classified radiation worker as required under the IRRs.
Deliver customer-focused operational support within your skills, knowledge and competence.
Comply with all Health, Safety, Security, Environmental and Quality policies, procedures and risk assessments.
Contribute to ongoing safety, environmental and operational improvements across the site.
Assist in the training and development of colleagues.
Uphold company values—prioritising safety, environmental stewardship, integrity, respect and innovation.
Qualifications & Training
Appropriate technical qualification such as City & Guilds, BTEC, NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent)
or relevant industrial experience.
Experience & Knowledge
Experience working in an industrial environment (essential).
Understanding or appreciation of IRR and RSA requirements.
Experience operating plant or equipment in production or operational settings.
Experience within the nuclear industry (highly desirable).
