Crynodeb
We are looking for a highly motivated and disciplined person to join our team as Market Assistant, to assist with the operation of various markets and market hall events at Lockmeadow and support the Market Manager to ensure the provision of effective service.
Some of your duties will include:
• Receive Market and Hall rents, process electronic payments and issue receipts.
• Maintain bookings diary schedule for Market Hall.
• Prepare and submit invoices to Market Hall users in advance of hires.
• Open and prepare Market and Hall ready for traders, this includes all administrative elements ready for operating the business.
• Site casual traders on the Market and check insurance documentation
• Inspect and monitor stalls to ensure no contraband/’pirate’ goods are sold.
• Ensure Market Traders adhere to Market Rules and Regulations
• Actively pursue new business for hirers of the hall, functions for the Lockmeadow site and new traders on the market.
• Assist with clearing up Market and Market Hall
This is a part time position working 30 hours per week Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, on a permanent contract.
Please note, this role does have some unsociable hours and early morning starts. You will be required to work every Saturday; however annual leave can be taken occasionally on this day at the agreement of your line manager.

About You:
You will be educated to GCSE level or equivalent with good administration and IT skills. You will have great customer service and communication skills, with the ability to deal with challenging people.
You will have the ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weathers and to move equipment the market area as needed. You will be approachable, adaptable and thrive in a busy working environment which can be pressured.
The Council considers this to be a customer focused role and the ability to converse at ease with customers adapting communication style to suit differing audiences and provide advice in accurate spoken English is fundamental to the role.
Selection Process:
Following the submission of your application form, it will be reviewed by the recruiting manager. Those that are successful in securing an interview can expect a tour of the market and market halls, followed by an interview.
