Summary
Personal assistant for adult woman in Horfield, Bristol
Apply at UKCIL.com. Reference: 6b9d80e3
I am looking for a highly organised personal assistant to help my daughter, Rose, (age 29).
Rose has severe ME/cfs and is unable to perform basic tasks of daily living. She currently has someone who helps her with many of these tasks (cooking, making tea, doing laundry and cleaning, etc.), but we are looking for someone to help with the co-ordination / organisation side of things, as well as occasionally bringing meals, doing dishes, tidying the bedroom etc.
The most important tasks she needs help with are organisational housekeeping tasks, especially the following:
Keeping track of recipes for the week, what food is in the fridge and what needs to be ordered by when so that cooking can be done on time;
Checking medication supplies and ordering medications online in good time so that they don't run out;
Keeping track of general household tasks and giving directions to the current carer as required.
You will need to be able to work independently and without much direction, as my daughter does not have the capacity to provide this and I live out of the country. The following qualities are essential requirements to be able to do the job:
Strong organisation and problem-solving skills.High autonomy and initiative.Attention to detail.
Reliability.
Here is a description from my daughter of the things that are most important to her:
I need someone who can work independently and figure things out without much guidance, as I don’t have the energy to explain everything.You’ll need to familiarise yourself with where things are kept in my room—including drawers and cupboards—so you can tidy, organise, and reorganise on your own. Showing people around or explaining my preferences makes my illness worse, so I need someone proactive.It’s very important that my room stays neat and orderly because I spend most of my time here, and mess really affects me. I’d also like help making the space feel “nice,” such helping me decorate or improve organisation.If you notice something is missing (e.g., clothes hangers, bins), please order it online for me.
Likewise, if you need something to be better able to do your job, it's important that you can order it yourself rather than asking me to buy it (I will of course pay!)Please don’t leave jobs unfinished or mess behind. If something is too difficult or unclear, be honest and let me know instead of leaving it undone.You must be willing to learn about my illness so you can understand my needs, which are subtle and complex. For example, just because I greet you cheerfully doesn’t mean I can keep chatting—I may feel okay for a few minutes, then suddenly be unable to talk.
Please only get in touch if you really think you fit the above requirements - I am very overloaded and don't have time to process applications that are not relevant to what we are looking for.
Many thanks for taking the trouble to read all this!
We look forward to hearing from you.
