The bereavement services team based at Chesterfield and District Crematorium is seeking a talented and motivated apprentice to join our esteemed bereavement services team to assist in the grounds maintenance of the Crematorium and four Cemeteries.
This role is ideal for anyone who is looking to start their career in horticulture, gardening and landscape work. Based at Chesterfield and District Crematorium but carrying out most of your work within the Council’s four Cemeteries, you will assist in the maintenance of these very important places - helping to keep the burial grounds clean, tidy and well maintained for those visiting.
You will also spend some time working within the tranquil, award-winning grounds of the Crematorium. Opportunities will also be available to learn about other interesting aspects of the service. We aim to deliver a professional and caring service through our competent trained staff, it is important that funerals are conducted in dignified and tidy surroundings.
This new and exciting apprenticeship opportunity is a great way to gain work experience whilst earning money at the same time and developing your skill set. You will be doing valuable work whilst working towards a recognised qualification.
If you have completed another apprenticeship or qualification, it must be at a lower level or in a different subject area to the apprenticeship you are applying for. If you are successful in your application, you must not be in receipt of or attending any other funded training or signed to another apprenticeship
You will be supervised and given support in working towards your goals and qualification, with up to one day a week set aside for learning. Start and finish times will vary depending on working within the Cemeteries or Crematorium but will be either 06.00 – 14.30 or 08.00 – 16.00 in line with local rota arrangements.
