About Us
Oxfordshire County Council’s Adult Social Care service is dedicated to helping people live independent, fulfilling lives. We are passionate about improving outcomes for people with a Learning Disability in Oxfordshire. As a result, we have created a new Learning Disability Team. It is a fantastic and unique chance to work with people with a Learning Disability and their families in Oxfordshire.Multi-agency working will be a key part of the role and there are exciting opportunities to work closely with our colleagues in the Oxford Health LD Team as well as other key stakeholders.
About the Role
This is a rewarding role where you will make a real difference to people and their families.As a Social Worker in the Learning Disability Team, you will undertake assessments, develop personalisedsupportplansand ensure that individuals have access to the resources they need.
You will work within the requirements of key legislation, including the Care Act 2014 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005, and you will champion the principles of safeguarding and equality. Your work will involve liaising with a wide range of professionals and agencies, managing a varied caseload and responding to emergencies when required. You will also contribute to service development, sharing ideas and best practice to improve outcomes for the people we support.
You will get fantastic support from an experienced group of managers and from colleagues who are always on hand to help from a peer support perspective.
About You
Youwill hold a recognised Social Work qualification andmaintainprofessional registration with Social Work England.
The role will include working with people and their families, undertaking assessments and developingsupportplans.You will have a soundunderstandingof relevant legislation and safeguarding principles, and you will be skilled in multi-agency working.Multi-agency working is a core part of the role so the ability to make positive professional relationships is important.Strong communicationandinterpersonalskills are essential, as is the ability to manage your workload effectively. You will be resilient,adaptableandcommittedto continuous professional development.
Experience of undertaking safeguarding investigations and working with people with a Learning Disability would be an advantage.However, we will offer a thorough induction and varied continued professional development opportunities.
