The Role – BSL Teaching Assistant
• Full-time, long-term position starting January
• Support pupils with hearing impairments, autism, and additional SEN needs
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support, using BSL to support communication and learning
• Assist pupils with emotional regulation, daily routines, and social interaction
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to implement personalised learning plans
• Help create an inclusive, engaging classroom environment where all pupils can thrive
Person Specification
• Degree in Psychology, Special Education, or a related field (essential)
• British Sign Language qualification – minimum Level 2 (Level 3 preferred)
• Experience supporting children or young people with SEN (desirable but not essential)
• Patient, empathetic, and resilient with strong communication skills
• A genuine passion for SEN education and supporting vulnerable learners
