IntroductionLove the outdoors? Enjoy helping people make unforgettable memories? Join our client, Forestry England, as a Visitor Services Officer and play a key role in creating inspiring experiences for everyone who visits our beautiful forests.
This is a hands-on, people-focused role combining customer service, teamwork, and working in some of the country's most stunning natural settings.
Key Duties- Welcome visitors with enthusiasm and provide friendly, helpful information.
- Operate visitor welcome areas, handle card payments, and promote Forestry England memberships.
- Regularly check car parks, trails, play areas, and facilities to keep them safe and enjoyable.
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in public areas.
- Support minor repairs, stock management, and upkeep of visitor areas.
- Assist visitors when needed, including first aid support after training.
- Work closely with colleagues and volunteers in a supportive, team-oriented environment.
- Follow health & safety and risk assessment procedures to ensure safe outdoor experiences.
- Oversee parking infrastructure and respond to issues promptly.
- Pitch in with additional tasks as required to support team and site operations.
Essential:
- Passion for delivering excellent customer service, in person and digitally.
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions and carry out practical tasks.
- Strong team player with a positive attitude.
- Interest in health & safety and outdoor working.
- Confident IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Full UK driving licence.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English (or relevant engineering subject).
Desirable:
- Basic DIY or maintenance skills.
- Experience using tills or electronic admissions systems.
- Stock management experience.
- Knowledge of risk assessments and safe outdoor working.
- Experience at a visitor attraction, particularly in heritage or environmental sectors.
- Part-time: 22.5 hours per week.
- Seven-day roster including regular weekends and public holidays.
- Shifts likely 8am - 4pm or 8am - 5pm (30-minute lunch).
- Shifts confirmed 1-2 weeks in advance.
- £14.12 per hour.
