The Birtenshaw Group are looking to appoint a number of experienced SEN Teachers to work within our purpose built, state of art
school situated in Bromley Cross, Bolton.

The School .....

The physical environment is of vital consideration when setting the climate for learning. The school building is airy and spacious
and provides a calm and safe environment in which pupils can thrive. Adopting a “Total Communication” approach means that we view
all behaviour as communication, assessing the function of the behaviour and supporting pupils to communicate more effectively,
leading to lower anxiety and improved relationships.



The extensive facilities include: a sensory soft play room, multi-sensory room with immersive technology, sensory integration
room, rebound therapy room, a 20 metre hydrotherapy pool with multi-sensory sound and light system and a courtyard garden.



Class sizes are small, on average 8 to 10 pupils. Each class is be led by a suitably qualified teacher with experience of meeting
the complex needs of pupils, who is supported by a dedicated team of staff in order to maintain routines and consistent
approaches.
About the Role .....
The main duties / responsibilities will include:
- To maintain an up-to-date understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN) principles, definitions and basic practice.
- To effectively co-ordinate the work across the school in at least one given subject or key skill area as agreed with the Head
Teacher.
- To communicate and consult with parents/carers and other appropriate people, preparing reports for and participating in child
focused meetings, as required.
- To recognise, value and raise the achievement of children.
- To use effective teaching strategies and lesson structures to deliver the curriculum
- To promote social and emotional development, positive behaviour and, where appropriate to the age group taught, to prepare for
adulthood
