Join a leading independent technology and services provider as an IT Expert Principal.
Job Overview:Location: DerbyContract: 12thJan'26 - 6th Feb'26Mandatory check: SC Clearance
Pay Rates:Umbrella Rate: £500-600/day (via a Hays approved umbrella company).Hours: 37.5 hours a week. Monday - Friday.Time: 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM 
HPC Containerisation: HPC ExpertPrincipal Consultant Skill Set and Knowledge DomainMust Have:

  • SC clearance
  • No Dual Single National
  • No OCI
  • Experience of using Beowulf clusters
  • Excellent knowledge of: Slurm Job Scheduling
  • Knowledgeable of best practices for MPI-optimized container images, including:
  • OpenMPI with Apptainer (SIF)
  • Podman/Buildah tooling
  • And other alternatives

Desirable:

  • The ability to conduct interviews with the customer staff covering the following areas:
  • Current infrastructure & use cases of HPC.
  • Containerisation capabilities workshop and discussion of typical HPC/ML workloads Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including
  • Jupyter ecosystem (Hubs/Labs/Notebooks) for Data Scientists workflows
  • MPI

Nice to have:Knowledge of:

  • The ability to collation of findings for presentation in a written report covering:
  • Market view of container technologies and options for HPC Use Cases
  • Singularity
  • SIF format
  • HPC Workflows
  • Experience in CFD software such as OpenFOAM.
  • Docker
  • Kubernetes as HPC runtime environment
  • Run: AI and GPU slicing,


Key Requirements:Candidates must be active SC cleared
