An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Environment & Waste Development Officer to join the Environment and Waste, Programme and Resources team at Leicestershire County Council (LCC).

About the Role

The successful candidate will lead on the development of new opportunities and projects through effective relationship management, joint working, project management and commissioning.

They would support the identification and initiation of new capital and revenue projects on behalf of the Environment & Waste Branch, by engaging with stakeholders, analysing data, and creating business cases.

We are looking for someone with a proven track-record in recognising new opportunities for service improvement and efficiencies, and an ability to capitalise on these opportunities by developing and sometimes managing projects.

The ideal candidate will have excellent relationship management and communication skills, and experience of analysing and interpreting complex information.

About You

To apply for this post, you must:

  • Have a relevant Degree (or equivalent), or equivalent demonstrable work experience in a relevant environmental area involving working with strategic partnerships and projects.
  • Successful management and delivery of projects.
  • Successfully negotiating with and influencing of a range of internal and external stakeholders, particularly at a senior level.
  • Identification, development and management of commercial opportunities and external sources of funding, including development of business cases and bids.
  • Analysis and interpretation of complex data, writing technical and non-technical reports and providing technical advice to stakeholders, including to senior managers and elected members.
  • Be able to work to tight timescales and to agreed targets.
  • Be able to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
