South Gloucestershire
Start Date: ASAP / April 2026

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), you will support children and young people across Key Stages 1 to 4 with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Working closely with teaching staff, you will help deliver learning activities, provide targeted support and promote positive engagement within a structured and nurturing environment.

This role requires patience, adaptability and resilience. The progress you help pupils make—academically, socially and emotionally—will be genuinely rewarding, with every achievement contributing to increased confidence and independence.

You will work as part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team alongside teachers, teaching assistants and specialist professionals. The setting is well resourced, collaborative and places strong emphasis on staff wellbeing and professional development.

The Setting

This opportunity is within a specialist SEND provision supporting pupils across KS1–KS4 with a range of additional needs, including autism and SEMH. The environment delivers personalised learning and consistent support, with pupil wellbeing and individual progress at the heart of its approach.

Joining at this stage offers a valuable opportunity to contribute to the continued development of the provision and make a meaningful impact across multiple age ranges.

About the Role

  • Supporting behaviour regulation and emotional development

  • Encouraging independence, engagement and positive learning behaviours

The role is available on a full-time basis, with part-time options considered.

✅ HLTA qualification or relevant experience in a higher-level support role
Experience working with pupils with SEND (ASD, SEMH, ADHD, learning difficulties)
A calm, consistent and inclusive approach
A passion for supporting pupils’ learning, wellbeing and personal development

    In Return, You Can Expect:
