Are you a Track Project Engineer seeking an opportunity to make a real difference on the UK’s largest light rail network?
Would you relish the chance to contribute across all aspects of your discipline from design development of major multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects and renewals, to providing strategic technical input to the development of design for new tram stops and line extension schemes?

Your Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Track Project Engineer to join the Metrolink Engineering Team. We have a range of engineering projects for a dedicated track project engineer to support our major ongoing track renewals programme, and support with planning for new stops and future line extensions.
You will be involved in early-stage project development - scoping technical specifications, reviewing tenders of potential suppliers. You will oversee track design drawings provided by suppliers, leading the engineering assurance for progressing design from conception to delivery and construction. You will also support and lead the management of technical interfaces, particularly with our suppliers, Metrolink discipline engineers and the Metrolink Operator & Maintainer.

Who are we?
Engineering is at the heart of Metrolink’s plans. At Transport for Greater Manchester, you will have the opportunity to work in a complex and challenging environment where you will grow and build upon your existing knowledge and experience to really make a difference to the travelling public using the Metrolink system across the city.
Metrolink Engineering provides oversight of all engineering projects for the continue development of the light-rail system infrastructure and rolling stock in Greater Manchester in conjunction with working with our tram operator and maintainer and overseeing their committed obligations to run and maintain the light-rail network.
What you’ll bring
You will have an engineering degree or equivalent with track engineering on the job project experience within a rail and/or light-rail environment. You will have attention to detail to oversee design assurance activities throughout the entire project lifecycle from scoping, design development through to site assurance of track works. You will have strong written and verbal communication skills to manage project stakeholders and review outputs. You will have a proactive approach to solve design and stakeholder issues and oversee TfGM/Metrolink engineering assurance within your projects.

A permanent role with a salary of £47,539-52,866 per annum depending on skills and experience
You’ll be part of a supportive group of project engineers, managed by the Metrolink Integration and Assurance Manager, enabling delivery of the overarching projects for the Metrolink Engineering Team with a wealth of experienced staff who will be there to guide you as you settle into TfGM.
