An opportunity has arisen for a full time ward housekeeper position within our Department for Older People Wards at Northwick Park Hospital.

As a ward housekeeper you will be:
• Monitoring all equipment in the department against agreed standards and policy including specialist equipment and isolation nursing areas.
• Documenting all checks undertaken, areas of concern and action taken.
• Ensuring that the ward has sufficient stock to meet patients and staff needs, ordering stock, reporting shortages and maintaining records as appropriate.
• Assisting nursing staff in getting bed spaces, bed and trolleys ready to receive new patient admissions.
• Ensuring ward consumables and other regularly stocked items for the unit's use are always available and within expiry date
• Ensuring day room and activities room are clean and tidy and prepared ready for patients to use.
• Ensuring items used for activities are clean and stored safely .
• Assisting in preparing day room for patients communal lunch times

You will need to be flexible, adaptable and able to use your own initiative as well as following instruction to undertake this role. You will be expected to report to the ward Manager and Matron for regular updating and to highlight areas for improvement. You will need to enjoy and be able to build a rapport working around elderly, sometimes, confused patients.

As part of your role you will need to work closely with the procurement services to maintain and resource stock and new items required to maintain a safe ward. You will be part of a multi- disciplinary team and need to be confident, proactive and resilient in this role to achieve the expected standards of the job description.
