Nurse Job Description Role Purpose Our vision is that every child and young person in the country has a safe and happy childhood. To help us achieve this, the role will: Manage delivery of a service to ensure the children have their needs assessed, to understand their care requirements, including assessing risk, and to agree a plan. To also deliver or arrange bespoke training to carers to meet the childs needs. In this role, youll be responsible and accountable for: 1. Leading on the assessment of childrens individual needs and development of targeted, quality assured plans, including the management of complex caseloads. 2. Delivering through a team or directly, a range of services to children and families, including providing both clinical advice/ consultation and operational delivery within residential settings and to others (i.e. fostering/ adoption) as required 3. Conducting risk assessments and care planning for children with specific additional health and/or learning and neuro-behavioural additional needs 4. Advising on the appropriate matching of skilled carers to children with specific additional health and/or learning and neuro-behavioural needs. 5. Updating electronic files utilising agreed systems and procedures and apply administrative processes to maintain home systems, clinical records and practices. 6. Planning, sourcing, and delivering training in specific aspects of disability and care, including to other providers and to the LA in a collaborative but market charged manner. 7. Leading on specific policy developments in services and across AfC in health and care for children and adults with additional needs aged 18-25 where required. 8. Leading by example to adhere to policies and regulatory framework, including for medication administration, liberty protection safeguards, and other specific areas of policy development. 9. Supporting and monitoring carer households, utilising Action for Childrens Policies and Procedures. 10. Oversight of service reviews at least annually for all children who do not have a LAC review and to report on utilisation and performance data monthly to the Registered Manager The responsibilities, accountabilities and reporting structure for this role will be reviewed periodically and updated, if required. 11. Ensuring effective, consistent communication between children, young people, families, carers, advocates and staff. To do this, you will have: Qualifications and training 1.Professional qualification Registered Nurse (Children) (NMC) Skills, knowledge and experience 1.Post qualification experience working effectively with a range of children and families in both clinical and community settings 2.Experience of supporting the distinct needs of carers 3.Proven experience of managing complex case loads 4.Line management experience 5.Experience of chairing meetings 6.Skilled in designing and delivering training to carers/ staff and managers. 7.Skilled in providing professional consultation to a range of professionals 8.Understanding of contemporary professional issues both within health and Family Placement 9.Understand and work effectively with the team around a child and across multiple agencies (Local Authority, Health, Education) Don't meet every single requirement? To ensure staffing levels are safe and meet legal requirements, in some of our services, there may be occasions where you will exceed your weekly contracted hours, however this will be balanced over the month, to avoid exceeding the maximum working hours over the month. Some of our services operate 24/7 365, therefore you may be required to participate in rotational duties including night shifts.
