This is an exciting opportunity to combine hands-on technical expertise with leadership, service development, and staff development, contributing directly to high-quality patient care across LTHT. Key responsibilities: Work independently under the guidance of SOPs, GMP, and COSHH regulations, while providing leadership and direction to staff within the department Deliver a high-quality specialist technical service to wards, departments, and outpatient areas, ensuring excellent patient care and service efficiency Maintain the highest professional standards and ensure full compliance with statutory regulations, pharmaceutical legislation, and the Health and Safety at Work Act Lead on the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of technical and support staff within the assigned area Provide line management, appraisal, and ongoing support for staff, fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team culture Identify individual and team training needs, develop tailored training plans, and act as the Key Trainer, ensuring all staff are trained in safe and effective working practices Contribute to the development, writing, implementation, and monitoring of SOPs and procedures, working collaboratively with colleagues and managers Ensure all departmental work is completed within agreed timescales, maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy Manage departmental resources effectively, ensuring best use of staff, equipment, and materials Lead quality monitoring activities, including error reporting, environmental controls, and turnaround times, ensuring outcomes are reviewed and reported appropriately Produce and present monthly workload and performance statistics Play an active role in service development, supporting innovation, process improvement, and the smooth implementation of change To forge links nationally and regionally with other technicians in your area in order to share best practice. Develop efficient communication channels with the rest of pharmacy to ensure a good understanding of the service and the roles and responsibilities of staff To coordinate cover for annual leave and lieu time
