Well prepared homemade food can coax a deep comfort within us, the familiar tastes and aromas can match the feeling of a warm embrace. Each and every meal prepared in our home is individually crafted with the individual person we support in mind. Using fresh locally sourced quality ingredients, our kitchen prepares meals as and when requested, and to the taste of those we care for.
The important role of a Kitchen Assistant is varied, and just some of the main responsibilities will be to prepare food, ensure high levels of cleanliness and food hygiene throughout the kitchen area, assist in stock taking and to help family members with mealtime rituals such as pouring drinks, serving food, laying the tables.
Eating meals together is the time to connect, share and socialise. We are a household, and as with any home, we treasure the special moments we share together, moments you as a Kitchen Assistant help to create.
Just some of the responsibilities:
To assist in the preparation of food.
To assist in the serving of meals to family members and the setting and clearing of tables.
To wash and dry kitchen pots/utensils
To clean the kitchen area (floors, cookers, appliances, etc).
To assist in ensuring a high level of health and safety, cleanliness, and food hygiene
To ensure that safe working practices are followed.
To report any problems to the Chef in charge
Assist in stock taking and storage of stock, including checking deliveries.
Benefits:
Just some of the benefits of working at Gibraltar Nursing Home include:
Excellent Hourly Rate
Paid breaks!
Bank Holiday Enhancement
Free DBS
Unlimited access to our Refer a Friend bonus scheme - £50 each
Full-time and part-time
Automatic enrolment on to our pension scheme
A fully funded CPD accredited training programme like no other provided for all team members.
Training & Development:
In 2015, we received clear feedback from our team that eLearning alone did not equip them with the skills to support the people that choose to live with us; eLearning did not equip them for the emotional challenges that they would face on a daily basis.
So, we began to develop our own in-house learning and development programme. That programme is now in its fifth year and has seen the wellbeing of both family members and team members increase exponentially. Our training is for all team members across all grades, all departments, all age groups and all genders.
