Northern Education Trust (NET) is a charitable education Trust with a good track record for school improvement. The Trust sponsors 30 academies; 17 secondary and 13 primaries across the North of England in fourteen Local Authority regions.

Buile Hill's academic performance has seen a remarkable turnaround in just one academic year, with exam outcomes trebling and now above the national averages. While the 2025 performance tables are yet to be officially released, provisional data indicates that Buile Hill was outperformed only by two selective schools in Salford in terms of the percentage of students who pass English and Maths at a Grade 5 or higher placing it third overall on key attainment measures and the highest-performing non-selective school in the borough.

Perhaps most significantly, Buile Hill is Salford’s most improved school reflecting the hard work of staff and students, and the transformative impact of support from NET, a nationally recognised multi-academy trust with a strong record of driving rapid improvement in schools.

Buile Hill Academy is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic Education Welfare Officer to join our team.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Help families improve their children’s access to learning and enable all children and young people to maximise their educational opportunities, especially those vulnerable groups that may need additional support
  • Identify those children in need of support by reason of their behaviour, absence from academy, family dysfunction, disability, social or emotional needs or any other special educational needs
  • Assess needs, plan interventions, implement effective action and evaluate outcomes against agreed objectives.
  • Assist the academy to safeguard students through joint work with partner agencies.

Northern Education Trust offers:

  • The opportunity to work and progress across the family of schools, should you wish in the future;
  • The chance to apply for leadership roles in the Deeps structure taking on a whole school leadership project;
  • The support and expertise of Director of Subjects.
  • A full and detailed programme of support and development for all;
  • A further comprehensive programme of professional development, including leadership, provided through the NET Staff College.

Employee benefits

  • Free flu vaccinations
  • Free onsite parking

In accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2025, an online search will be completed on all shortlisted applicants prior to interview. Any relevant information will be discussed further with the applicant during the interview process.

The Trust is committed to considering flexible working requests.

The Trust is committed to safer recruitment practice and pre-employment checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed. All posts are subject to enhanced disclosure and barring service checks. We expect all adults to share our commitment to safeguarding and the health and wellbeing of our pupils.
