Personal Assistant
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I am a 9 year old boy living in the Rumney area of Cardiff. I have a diagnosis of autism. I am high-functioning and very intelligent, with a real love for learning, but sometimes I find social situations challenging and need 1:1 support to help me feel comfortable. People often describe me as friendly, funny and full of charm. Some of my favourite hobbies include reading, visiting libraries, going to the cinema, parks, and out for meals. I find it easier to connect with grown-ups who are calm, kind, and supportive. That helps me feel safe and relaxed.
PURPOSE OF JOB
I am looking for a personal assistant to support me both at home and out in the community. Someone to help me build my social skills and hopefully make a friend to share fun and special moments with.
PLACE OF WORK
At home and out in the community.
HOURS OF WORK
3 hours term time
6 hours school holidays
RATE OF PAY
£14.75
TASKS INVOLVED
Prompt me to wash my hands
Keep me occupied, engage with me in my favourite activities
Take me out in the community
Provide me with meals, drinks and snacks
Make sure I am kept safe
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
Reliable and punctual
Able to respect my privacy and confidentiality
Have common sense and initiative
Full driving license with access to a car
Flexible and adaptable to meet my needs
Understanding of autism would be desirable
ABOUT THE JOB
Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A probation period will be necessary in the first instance. Wages will be paid 4 weekly. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
