Community Engagement Officer
Part-time (20 hours per week, flexible evenings/weekends)
Salary: SCP 24–28 (£35,412 - £39,152 pro-rata)
Location: Rossington Memorial Hall, Doncaster
About the Role
This new post plays a key role in supporting the Parish Council’s vision for an inclusive, connected, and thriving parish. Working closely with the Clerk, RFO and Councillors, you will lead planning and delivery of community focused events – from the Easter Extravaganza and to youth and summer programmes. Your expertise in event management will ensure these activities run smoothly, meet health and safety requirements, and create lasting impact for the community.
Alongside events, you will drive the Parish Councils communications and engagement work – utilising digital platforms, shaping council publications such as the Parish Magazine and Newsletter, and promoting civic initiatives through networking and partnership working. You will also act as the Parish Council’s representative at meetings with schools, wellbeing groups, and community organisations, supporting residents and local groups in accessing funding opportunities.
Confidence using tools like WordPress, MS365, and social media is important, along with the ability to write clearly and persuasively for different audiences.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone who is:
• Experienced in event planning and delivery, with a track record of managing logistics and outcomes.
• Skilled in social media management, administration and customer service.
• Able to work with digital tools including MS365, Teams, SharePoint, and online platforms. We’re happy to support the right candidate with training and development, including working towards relevant qualifications where needed.
• A clear communicator with strong people skills and the ability to engage diverse audiences.
• Organised, reliable, and able to balance a variety of tasks.
• Flexible to work evenings and weekends when needed.
It’s a bonus if you have knowledge of local government, experience with volunteers, or a qualification in events management.
Why Apply?
This is a varied and rewarding role for someone who wants to make a real difference in Rossington. You’ll join a supportive team that embrace fresh idea, gain valuable experience, and play a key part in shaping the Council’s future through communications, events, and community engagement.

Contact recruitment@chrgs.co.uk for a candidate pack and application form. Applications must be submitted by 5pm on 20th January 2026. Interviews will take place weeks commencing 2nd February (first stage) and 9th February (second stage).
