Crynodeb
Demonstrate the knowledge, skills and experience needed to provide quality care for women, babies and their families. To ensure that all knowledge and skills are updated and maintained within the requirements outlined in the NMC. Develop and maintain a working knowledge of local obstetric/neonatal guidelines and SOPs. Develop and maintain flexible and innovative approaches to care in keeping with current research based practice. To develop awareness of clinical audit systems, leading to improvements in care for women, babies and their families. Support Infant feeding team to maintain UNICEF Baby Friendly Accreditation and work towards achieving the sustainability standards necessary to receive the Gold award. Support the Infant Feeding team leader in developing the infant feeding service, to uphold Baby Friendly Initiative Standards and enhance care delivery, with a view to increasing breastfeeding initiation, sustained breastfeeding and improved breastfeeding experiences. Support the delivery of the staff Infant Feeding education programme, monitor outcomes and to strive to continually enhance staff education across the service. Deliver antenatal infant feeding education programme, monitor outcomes and strive to continually enhance antenatal education across the service, focusing on hard to reach or disadvantaged groups. Support tongue tie assessment, referral into specialist services and to complete any training to enhance the service/care where there is a suspected tongue tie. Provide support and practical assistance to staff supporting women with feeding issues, in a way that develops staff knowledge and skills, in line with best available evidence and the Baby Friendly standards. In the absence of the Infant Feeding Lead, act as a representative for the Infant Feeding service at meetings and events. Please see attached job description and addendum for full details.
