Crynodeb
Ensure the smooth running of the AFC’s Welfare investigations.
Manage the delivery of high quality and timely investigations, providing quality control of reports produced by relevant investigative bodies, as required.
Keep under review the Commissioner’s policy on conducting investigations and the operating procedures.
Manage risk by ensuring assessments are conducted by Investigators, signing off high risk cases and conducting risk assessments for any personal visits.
Ensure consistency in recommendations made by the Commissioner.
Oversee and manage AFC thematic investigations, ensuring the efficient and effective
investigation from start to finish and that investigations remain focussed through to conclusion.
Assist the Policy & Improvement Manager by highlighting trends and support them in monitoring how recommendations are implemented by the Armed Forces.
Assist the Policy & Improvement Manager in their work by identifying learning from individual cases that may be utilised to make wider improvements.
Understand and apply the Commissioner’s vision and values and act as a role model for achieving change and continuous improvement by delivering excellence in complaints handling and sharing best practice.
Establish strong stakeholder relationships with the MOD and contacts within relevant bodies
in respect of the operational matters both within AFC and the Services, to share insight, learning and identify risks and challenges.
In collaboration with the Quality Assurance Manager, you will conduct quality assurance on the outputs of Welfare Investigations.
Support the Commissioner with their outreach programme as required.
Deputise for the Senior Head of Investigations (Band B1 / Grade 6) as required.
Line management responsibilities will be required, including ensuring the team are appropriately trained and developed to enable them to fulfil their roles and objectives.
