Buyer (Indirect Procurement) – Remote Working – Defence & Advanced Technology
Summary:
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading defence and technology organisation that delivers advanced maritime and mission-critical solutions to customers worldwide. This is a permanent opportunity for a Buyer - Indirect Procurement to join a fast-paced and highly regulated environment, supporting the sourcing of indirect goods and services across the business.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supplier management, contract negotiation, cost control and ensuring continuity of supply to support operational and project requirements.
Responsibilities:
• Negotiate supplier contracts using procurement best-practice tools
• Balance cost, quality and delivery requirements
• Issue RFQs and Purchase Orders in line with company and government regulations
• Maintain accurate supplier, part and cost data within ERP systems
• Ensure continuity of supply and proactively manage supply chain risks
• Manage supplier order books, expediting and prioritising orders
• Identify and deliver cost-reduction and value-improvement opportunities
• Liaise with Production, Quality Assurance and Programme teams
• Ensure on-time, in-full delivery of materials and services
• Monitor market trends and assess supplier capability
• Conduct supplier performance reviews and drive improvement actions
• Support procurement KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives
• Manage defective material returns and replacement procurement
Skills:
• Proven experience within Indirect Procurement
• Strong negotiation and supplier management capability
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Working knowledge of ERP systems (e.g. IFS or similar)
• Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel capability
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Self-starter and ability to work independently
