Job OverviewThe Technical Services Officer (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, plant operator, building fabric trade) is an important role within the Mitie operation delivery team and will report directly to the Building Manager. The role will require assisting with Planned and Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and Reactive work (items of repair), or equipment operation.

The post holder will have the following key responsibilities:

To Install, maintain, service and repair a full range of structural, fabric components and engineering elements to Alder Hey Children's Hospital.

To carry out maintenance tasks and support and assist trade staff to undertake routine maintenance, fault finding / repair and new work to give a safe and fit for purpose environment for patients, visitors and staff.

To act as first responder to reactive jobs by containing and making safe within contract KPI's



Main Duties

-Facilities Management service undertaken for fabric maintenance etc to fixtures and fittings.

-Ensure Work Orders (or in the future Personal Digital Assistants - PDAs), are utilised as Company procedure requires and that work is attended and completed in time as required by the Contract, completing Risk Assessment beforehand.

-Ensure work is undertaken as required by the Contract, efficiently and to good standard of quality.

-Ensure all details on the Work Order are correctly completed and signed off before issue to Supervisor for final sign off and close down in the Facilities Management IT system.

-Attend Tool Box talks with Supervisor and attend all other training as determined by the Company.

-Ensure that the companies Quality, Health and Safety and Environmental policies and standards are complied with at all times. Actively promote a zero accident culture.

-Assist with establishing, maintaining and developing effective working relationships with the client and customers, all staff, external agencies, specialist suppliers and all other relevant groups/companies.

-Assist with completing service delivery to ensure that client's needs are met in accordance with contractually agreed targets and service level agreements.

-Fully participate in promoting a culture of learning and continuous improvement.

-Liaise with all operational teams and client staff as required.

-To ensure customer satisfaction by promoting the highest levels of service in accordance with Mitie & SWAH Quality, Health and Safety, and Environmental standards.

What we are looking for· Technical Skills: Proficient in use of hand and power tools to complete tasks

· Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyse data, identify issues, and implement solutions.

· Communication and Collaboration Skills: Effective communication with team members, other operators, and stakeholders.

· Decision-Making Skills: Ability to make sound decisions under pressure, particularly during emergencies.

· Familiarity with Regulations and Standards: Knowledge of relevant standards and regulations.

· Computer Literacy: Proficiency in using computer systems, and hand held PDA

This role may require regular entry to high-risk or forensically clean areas of the SARC at Rainbow.  As such, and as part of our commitment to supporting Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust to maintain the highest forensic standards and comply with UKAS accreditation requirements, the successful candidate will be required to provide a DNA sample
