We're on the lookout for an Environmental Advisor to join our growing team in Worcester, supporting our projects across the UK.
This is a role for someone to lead and shape how our business and projects protect the environment and cut carbon at source. You'll be the trusted authority on environmental compliance, risk, and performance - confidently influencing our teams, clients, and leaders alike.
We're seeking someone ambitious to take on responsibility, shape decisions, and build a pathway toward greater influence and career advancement. As part of the team, a Sustainability Coordinator will be available to support you with data management and various other needs.
What you will do
- Drive VolkerLaser's ambition to lead in environmental and carbon performance.
- Advise and support projects on environmental compliance and best practice.
- Develop environmental management plans and secure necessary permits.
- Conduct audits, inspections, and lead incident investigations.
- Own and maintain the Environmental Management System.
- Analyse trends and implement improvements.
- Create procedures, toolbox talks, and guidance.
- Build strong relationships with internal teams, clients and regulators.
- Contribute to tenders and maintain certifications (ISO 14001, PAS 2080).
- Champion circular economy and waste reduction initiatives.
- Manage environmental and carbon data for reporting.
- Deliver training and awareness sessions.
- Develop and implement a carbon strategy toward net zero by 2035.
- Identify and advise on carbon reduction opportunities and innovations.
About you
- Relevant membership of the Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals (ISEP) or equivalent.
- Experienced environmental auditor with demonstrable experience of completing internal audits. Lead Auditor status is beneficial but not essential.
- An understanding of the requirements of BS EN ISO 14001:2004/2015 and PAS2080.
- A working knowledge of current and impending environmental legislation (England, Scotland and Wales).
- Good presentation, written, and analytical skills.
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability and self-confidence to build strong working relationships internally and externally at all levels.
- Excellent organisational, communication and time management ability.
- A degree in a relevant subject is preferable.
- Experience working as an environmental professional within the construction industry would be advantageous.
