Ward A5 – the dedicated Neck of Femur (NOF) Unit at Wythenshawe Hospital, part of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust – is seeking an experienced or newly qualified Registered Nurse to join our friendly and dynamic team. Ward A5 is a busy orthopaedic ward delivering high-quality care to both elective and trauma patients, with a strong focus on patient experience, safety, and rehabilitation.

We are looking for proactive, compassionate, and forward-thinking nurses who place patient care at the heart of everything they do. You will bring strong communication skills, a positive approach to teamwork, and the ability to thrive within a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.

At MFT, our nursing roles offer exceptional learning and development opportunities. You will have full access to the MFT Academy and LEAD Training Programmes, as well as coaching and department-specific development that supports your professional growth. Our commitment to your career is further supported through the Trust’s robust Nurse Revalidation Programme, including an e-portfolio and personalised guidance to ensure you feel confident and well-supported in your professional journey.

The post holder will be responsible for assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating all aspects of high-quality patient care in a compassionate, sensitive and person-centred manner. They will work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure safe and effective care delivery, and actively contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement and the continuous development of the service.

The role includes acting as a mentor and preceptor to junior staff, with specific responsibility for supporting pre-registration nursing students and contributing to their learning and development. The post holder will also take delegated responsibility for coordinating the clinical team on a shift-by-shift basis, ensuring the maintenance of high nursing standards, effective resource management, and a positive, safe environment for patients and staff.

Join Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) and become part of a 30,000 plus strong team, delivering exceptional care to over 1 million people every year. As the largest provider of specialist services, and our Oxford Road Campus in Manchester, the largest health academic campus in Europe, we are forward-thinking, committed to clinical excellence and driven to deliver innovation, and continuous improvement.

Whether you’re beginning your career or taking the next step, MFT offers a stimulating and supportive environment where your contribution truly matters.
