A thriving three-site small animal practice serving High Wycombe, Hazlemere, and Watlington is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon who thrives on variety, autonomy, and strong clinical support. The successful candidate will primarily split their time between High Wycombe and their nearest branch, with occasional cover across all sites. While on site, they will work in sole charge, with the reassurance of a supportive wider team just a phone call away.

This role offers a varied caseload of cats, dogs, rabbits, and small furries, with a slight consult bias. Surgical responsibilities include routine procedures, a broad range of first-opinion work, and occasional ECC cases. Vets with an interest or certificate in orthopaedics will find excellent opportunities to grow their caseload, supported by comprehensive in-house capabilities for case work-ups and continuity of care.

All sites are equipped with digital and dental X-ray, abdominal and cardiac ultrasound, endoscopy, rhinoscopy, IDEXX lab machines, TONO-Pen, EPOC, coagulation testing, and access to Vets Now equipment as needed – everything required to deliver high-quality veterinary care.

This is a full-time 40-hour role over four days (start times 8–8:30am, finishes 6–7pm). Part-time applications are welcome. Weekends are shared fairly on a 3:7 rota (pro-rata for part-time). As a Vets Now host practice, there is no OOH or on-call, supporting a healthy work-life balance.

The main High Wycombe site is a modern, spacious practice with separate cat and dog waiting areas, four consult rooms, three prep areas, a large dispensary, a theatre with two operating tables, ultrasound suite, IDEXX lab, office space for case work-ups, and staff facilities including a wellbeing room and kitchen.

Join a welcoming team of 8 vets, 7 RVNs, 2 SVNs, and 2 PCAs, supported by an experienced reception, admin, and management team. With certificate holders in Surgery and Veterinary Business Management, a strong mentoring culture, and support for further qualifications, this practice offers a collaborative and encouraging environment.

High Wycombe is a vibrant market town offering countryside charm with excellent transport links to London, Oxford, and the Chilterns. With great shops, restaurants, green spaces, and scenic walks nearby, it’s the ideal location for those seeking balance, connectivity, and quality of life.

The practice recognises that its people are fundamental to its success, investing in its team, premises, and processes. In addition to a competitive salary, the role offers:

Work-Life Balance

• 6.6 weeks annual leave
• Additional holiday entitlement for your birthday

Wellbeing

• Private medical insurance
• Enhanced family-friendly policies (maternity/paternity/adoption/shared parental/surrogacy pay)
• Cycle to Work scheme
• Employee wellbeing initiatives
• Non-accidental injury support

Development

• Certificate support and learning opportunities
