Job Summary and Location
This role is based with Newport City Council, with a statutory Social Work team. The position involves substantial interaction with children, families, and professionals, contributing to the Council's commitment to safeguarding and community well-being.
Purpose of the Job
The main purpose of the job is to deliver high-quality social work support and services to children and families within the community, ensuring their safety, well-being, and dignity are maintained at all times.
Main Areas of Responsibility
Engaging directly with children and families.
Upholding safeguarding standards and compliance with relevant legislation.
Completing necessary documentation, including disclosure checks as per statutory requirements.
Participating in all mandatory training and ongoing professional development.
Main Accountabilities
Adhering to the Authority’s safeguarding policies and procedures.
Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
Ensuring accurate and timely completion of forms and records, plans and reports.
Actively contributing to a positive and safe working environment.
Mandatory Experience and Skills
Experience working with vulnerable groups such as children and families.
Understanding of safeguarding practices and relevant legal frameworks.
Ability to complete disclosure and barring checks in line with statutory requirements.
Commitment to undertake all role-related mandatory training.
Desirable Skills
Previous experience in a local authority or community service setting.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Flexibility and adaptability to changing needs within the community.
Knowledge of local services and resources in Newport.
