This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a major digital initiative designed to transform the delivery of care at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM). The Electronic Patient Record (EPR) Programme stands as one of the most ambitious change projects in the Trust’s history. Its aim is to streamline staff workflows, enhance safety, and ultimately achieve improved outcomes for service users.

The EPR Change Manager is central to the successful implementation and integration of a new Electronic Patient Record system. This pivotal role is responsible for ensuring staff are engaged, prepared, and confident throughout the transformation process, with the new system fully embedded into the organisation’s culture and operational practice.

The postholder will provide leadership for the change management workstream, collaborating closely with programme leads, clinical stakeholders, operational managers, and external partners. Their focus will be to ensure that the EPR system is aligned with the needs of both the Trust and its patients. This involves the development and execution of a comprehensive change strategy that promotes staff engagement, readiness, and the ongoing adoption of new digital processes.

In this role you will be able to work Monday to Friday in the time frames from 8am to 6pm, giving you the very best of good work life balance.

This role is in the Digital EPR PMO which sits under the Digital Services Directorate. The Directorate utilises technology and digital solutions to empower our staff to work effectively and to improve the care our service users receive. The postholder will report to the Chief Clinical Information Officer and work closely with multidisciplinary project workstreams, Digital and external departments / teams across the Trust as directed.

The Digital team are located across 3 main sites;

Maudsley Hospital (headquarters)

Our Trust headquarters is located at Denmark Hill less than 5 minutes from the train station (zone 2) and is within walking distance from the beautiful green spaces of Ruskin park and the vibrant high-street that offers great shopping opportunities and with a wide range restaurants.



St Pauls

St Pauls is located within the Bromley area and is less than 10 minutes from the train stations (Bromley South, Bromley North and Shortlands) It is within walking distance from the beautiful green spaces of Bromley Park and the vibrant high-street that offers great shopping opportunities and with a wide range restaurants.



Bethlem Royal Hospital

Bethlem Royal Hospital is based in a beautiful setting in over 200 acres of green space in the London Borough of Bromley, South East London. The hospital has easy access to nearby main roads and have offers free parking. The site is within walking distance from of Eden Park and West Wickham overland stations.

Key Responsibilities:



Change Strategy & Governance

Develop and deliver a comprehensive EPR Change Management Strategy aligned with Trust-wide objectives.

Lead the EPR change workstream within the broader digital transformation programme.

Apply structured change management methodologies to plan, execute, and adapt complex change activities.

Prepare and deliver change enablement materials including impact assessments, readiness plans, sustainability strategies, and benefits realisation frameworks.

Ensure compliance with NHS governance, standards, and data protection regulations.

Leadership & Team Management

Manage and support a team of Change Leads and Change Agents across clinical and operational departments.

Implement new working practices and support collaborative approaches and capacity planning.

Act as a change agent, driving delivery of change workstreams and activities.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

Engage with stakeholders to ensure awareness, involvement, and readiness for change.

Lead stakeholder engagement and communication initiatives, including mobilisation of Change Agents or Champions.

Plan and facilitate workshops, briefings, and communications to promote understanding of the EPR system.

Address resistance to change and ensure patient care considerations are embedded in all change activities.

Risk & Issue Management

Identify and address risks, resistance, and barriers to change through structured mitigation planning.

Manage risks and issues associated with change activities and outcomes.

Collaboration & Integration

Collaborate with training teams to ensure staff are adequately prepared and supported.

Contribute to training design by preparing learning plans and supporting material.

Coordinate delivery efforts with programme managers, Digital Services, and external suppliers.

Contribute to service design impacting patient care and administrative workflows.

Monitoring & Reporting

Monitor adoption metrics and feedback to continuously refine change strategies.

Support implementation of Change Plans and track progress against defined success criteria and business case objectives.

Report on the status of change workstreams, project actions, and business-as-usual initiatives.

Provide regular progress updates to senior leadership and contribute to programme board reporting.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

Promote a culture of continuous improvement and digital innovation across the organisation.

Ensure EPR system functionality aligns with local clinical and operational workflows.
