Summary

This is a rare entry-level role, providing a fantastic opportunity for those interested in launching a career in marketing. Gain hands on experience and develop commercial marketing skills in this part-time role in a fast-paced and creative working environment.


We are looking for an individual who is interested in Chelmsford’s history, heritage and culture, in addition to having a love of marketing. The successful applicant will be assisting in major promotional campaigns for the museum that are focused on driving income and raising awareness of everything from the objects in our collections and galleries, temporary exhibitions and curator talks, kids’ activities to memberships. This means they’ll need to be able to manage working on multiple tasks simultaneously and work effectively to deadlines.


We’re looking for someone with excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an eye for detail. Getting involved in helping us with membership administrative tasks, updating copy on our web pages and online listings, and researching ideas for social media content. We are very data driven in our decision making, so the role will also involve maintaining spreadsheets and schedules.


The post holder will be helping to create posters, digital screen ads and social media posts to support our campaigns. This means we want applicants who have some experience in creating engaging and accessible artwork using design software such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.


Also, working alongside others in our team in creating and editing video content that’s filmed on mobile and other devices. These will be used across our socials, including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn, so will need to be able to demonstrate your experience in doing this.


The successful applicant will be someone with a positive, proactive, and “can-do” attitude, with behaviours that reflect both the council and museum’s values. The post holder will be required to work 29.6 hours per week (between Monday to Friday), Occasional weekend and evening work (e.g. filming at events for social media content)and hybrid working between the Civic Centre in Duke Street and at the Museum of Chelmsford.
