Neway International are seeking a Preparing for Adulthood SEND Team Manager (Kingston & Richmond) to join our client based with Achieving for Children.

Location: Guildhall Complex
Hours: 36 hours per week (09:00–17:00)
Start Date: 19 January 2026
End Date: 17 April 2026
Work Pattern: Standard office hours
Rate: PAYE £250.00 per day / Umbrella £328.75 per day

Achieving for Children (AfC) is a not‑for‑profit social enterprise delivering education, health and social care services across Kingston and Richmond. AfC is committed to improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND, supporting them to achieve independence, wellbeing, and successful transitions into adulthood.

The Role
The Preparing for Adulthood (PfA) Team Manager will lead a sub‑team of PfA Coordinators and a Senior PfA Coordinator, providing line management, supervision, appraisal, and induction of new staff. Working alongside a second Team Manager, you will jointly support the wider PfA service, contribute to strategic projects, and ensure high‑quality casework delivery.

This role is central to improving customer satisfaction, modelling a positive and proactive approach, and ensuring statutory SEND responsibilities are met. You will lead key activities such as phase transfer events, annual reviews, school and college visits, and parent engagement sessions.

Key Responsibilities
Line manage a sub‑team of PfA Coordinators and a Senior PfA Coordinator, including supervision, appraisal, and induction.

Work collaboratively with the second PfA Team Manager to support service delivery and casework.

Lead and organise phase transfer events, coffee mornings, annual reviews, and school/college visits.

Oversee statutory SEND processes including annual reviews, phase transfers, placement decisions, and ceasing processes in line with the SEND Code of Practice.

Provide guidance on complex casework, including alternative provision, EOTAS, and Elective Home Education.

Work jointly with local FE colleges to ensure alignment with the Preparing for Adulthood agenda and compliance with statutory deadlines.

Monitor KPIs, contribute data to weekly meetings, and oversee systems for managing review processes.

Conduct regular quality assurance of EHCPs and provide constructive feedback to staff.

Build strong relationships with families, schools, colleges, and partner agencies to develop positive solutions for young people with complex needs.

Manage arrangements for phase transfers and transitions in partnership with Social Care, Health, and education providers.

Sit on local authority decision‑making panels and chair specific panels as required.

Respond to formal complaints and monitor high‑risk casework to prevent escalation.
