Role Purpose

The General Manager - Operations will take full responsibility for the day-to-day operational leadership of London Brookes College campus delivering Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes. The post holder will ensure the campus operates in full compliance with Pearson, Office for Students (OfS), and all relevant regulatory, quality assurance, and governance frameworks.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong operational control, regulatory expertise, and the ability to design, implement, and maintain robust systems, processes, and documentation to support academic delivery, inspections, audits, and student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
1. Regulatory Compliance & Governance
• Ensure full and continuous compliance with Pearson, OfS, and other relevant awarding and regulatory bodies.
• Lead preparation for and successful outcomes from:
o Pearson Centre Reviews
o External Quality Assurance (EQA) visits
o OfS audits, data returns, and regulatory checks

• Maintain all required policies, procedures, handbooks, registers, and compliance documentation, ensuring they are accurate, current, and submitted on time.
• Act as the primary operational point of contact for awarding bodies, regulators, and external inspectors.
• Ensure timely and accurate submission of data including (but not limited to):
o Student records and progression data
o Attendance and engagement metrics
o Awarding body documentation
o Regulatory and compliance returns

2. Campus Operations & Leadership
• Oversee all daily campus operations, ensuring smooth delivery of academic programmes and student services.
• Manage administrative, operational, and support staff, setting clear expectations, KPIs, and performance standards.
• Ensure operational readiness of the campus including timetabling, facilities, student onboarding, and assessments support.
• Act as the operational lead for risk management, issue resolution, and escalation.
• Support senior management in strategic planning and campus growth initiatives.

3. Quality Assurance & Academic Support
• Work closely with academic teams to ensure operational processes fully support Pearson HND delivery standards.
• Ensure assessment, internal verification, and quality assurance processes are operationally sound and inspection-ready.
• Monitor student attendance, retention, engagement, and achievement, implementing operational interventions where required.
• Ensure effective record-keeping for student files, assessments, appeals, complaints, and mitigating circumstances.

4. Digital Systems & Data Management
• Design, implement, and manage the campus online data and document management systems, ensuring consistency, security, and audit readiness.
• Set up and maintain operational use of platforms such as:

o Microsoft Teams (for staff collaboration, document control, and communication)
o Shared drives and secure digital filing systems
o Student and staff data tracking tools

• Ensure data protection, GDPR compliance, and appropriate access controls across all systems.
• Train staff on effective and compliant use of digital systems.

5. Inspections, Audits & Continuous Improvement
• Lead the campus through all inspections, audits, and reviews, ensuring readiness at all times.
• Conduct internal operational audits to identify gaps and implement corrective actions.
• Embed a culture of continuous improvement, operational excellence, and regulatory awareness across the campus.
• Produce operational reports for senior leadership, highlighting risks, compliance status, and performance trends.
Person Specification
Essential Experience & Skills
• Proven track record in a senior operational or compliance role within UK further or higher education (HND / HE preferred).
• Demonstrable experience working with Pearson qualifications and successfully managing Centre Reviews and EQA processes.
• Strong understanding of OfS regulatory requirements, data submissions, and compliance expectations.
• Experience leading and passing external inspections and audits.
• Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail and documentation control.
• Hands-on, proactive approach with the ability to both lead strategically and manage operational detail.
• Strong digital capability, including setting up and managing systems using Microsoft Teams and related platforms.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.



Desirable
• Experience in a London-based private or independent college delivering HND or HE programmes.
• Experience supporting international and widening participation student cohorts.
• Knowledge of UKVI compliance (where applicable).
• Experience contributing to campus expansion or new programme launches.
