About the Programme
Our Supported Internships combine high-quality teaching with real-life work experience, helping young people build confidence, independence and lasting employability skills.
As a Tutor, you will:
- Teach Functional Skills English and Maths up to Level 2.
- Deliver creative lessons in employability and workplace skills.
- Support learners both in the classroom and in their work placements.
- Help young people move into paid, sustainable employment.

What you will bring to the Tutor role at Mencap:
- Experience supporting SEND learners in a teaching or training environment.
- Experience delivering and assessing Functional Skills English & Maths.
- Strong planning, organisation and classroom management abilities.
- Minimum Level 3 Award in Education (or equivalent), with willingness to progress to Level 5.
- GCSE English and Maths (A–C / 9–4 or equivalent).
- A commitment to inclusive practice, person-centred support, equality and safeguarding.

The recruitment process if successful at application, will involve a two-stage interview process. A competency based interview will be the first stage and delivering a micro-teach will be the format for the second interview.
Salary: £30,705 – £33,161 pro rata (dependent on qualifications).
