A good degree in an appropriate discipline related to English (A/C)
• A teaching qualification together with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (A/C)
• A strong and secure subject knowledge in English up to GCSE (A/I)
• Recent and relevant teaching experience (A/I/R)
• Experience of assessment at key stage 3 and 4 (A/I/R)
• Awareness of the strategies available for improving the learning and achievement of all students (A/I)
• A good understanding of curriculum developments in English (A/I)
• Able to use a range of teaching and learning strategies (A/I)
• An understanding of how assessment for learning can improve student performance (A/I)
• Confidence in the use of standard computer packages and how these can be used to enhance student learning (A/I)

We also regularly organise whole school events and educational visits so that our pupils have a broad experience of learning beyond the classroom. Recent overseas trips have included visits to Berlin and the Western Front and there are regular theatre trips and sporting fixtures.
Since joining Delta Academies Trust in September, 2025, we have already benefitted from significant investment in our buildings, our Curriculum offer and our staff development.

Our Curriculum
With an English curriculum that is developed centrally and adapted by each academy, we are able to offer a robust, relevant and expertly created learning pathway. We have extensive materials for staff to use and adapt and we support students with regularly updated Knowledge Organisers. We also use online platforms to support learning such as GCSEPod.
How Will We Support You?
As part of Delta Academies Trust, you’ll have access to ongoing CPD(both internally and externally) with the opportunity to further develop your skills and career alike. You’ll join a large network of colleagues across the Trust, meaning there’s of collaboration and peer support both within our academy and beyond. You’ll regularly have the opportunity to work alongside a Director of English, for instance, who supports the team with assessment, planning and intervention.
