Role Overview
We are looking for a hands-on Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to take charge of keeping a busy manufacturing site running smoothly. This is a practical role where you will actively work on machinery, site systems, and facilities, solving problems and fixing issues as they arise. You will work closely with the Factory Foreman and senior management to ensure all equipment and services are reliable and safe.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with their hands, thrives on variety, and takes pride in keeping machinery and site operations running efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across all machinery and facilities
* Work directly on production machines, including:
o CNC flame cutting machines
o Lumsden grinders
* Perform mechanical repairs, adjustments, and improvements on-site
* Diagnose and repair electrical faults, including PLCs and control panels
* Maintain and troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems
* Fix minor building and facility issues as they occur (plumbing, doors, lighting, etc.)
* Work safely at height and with cranes when required
* Collaborate with external contractors when specialist support is needed
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
* Proven hands-on experience in heavy industry or manufacturing maintenance
* Multi-skilled with a mechanical bias
* Level 3 qualification (NVQ / City & Guilds) in an electrical discipline
* Electrical experience with AC & DC systems
* PLC fault-finding and electrical panel troubleshooting
* Confident reading wiring diagrams and schematics
Desirable:
* 18th Edition Electrical Qualification (or earlier)
* Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics
* Experience with gas systems
* Experience with cranes and working at height
* General building maintenance experience
