About the Team

Bath and North East Somerset Registration Service is seeking to recruit up to five Casual Registration Ceremonies Officers. The main focus of this role is to guide and help couples and families to celebrate some of the most significant events in their lives. It is a flexible job which includes working in the Guildhall and at prestigious venues across the County of Bath and North East Somerset which stretches from the outskirts of Bristol, south to the Mendip hills and east to the southern Cotswolds and Wiltshire border.

Registration is a changing and exciting environment, and we are looking for enthusiastic people to join our excellent forward-thinking team to meet the new challenges within Registration.

About the Role

As a Casual Registration Ceremonies Officer, you will be required to work on a rota basis on Saturdays, Sundays, Bank Holidays (for which there is enhanced pay) and some weekdays registering and delivering Marriages, Civil Partnerships, Citizenship Ceremonies, and other celebratory functions.

The successful applicant would be required to commit to work two weekends in four, which could increase at peak times.

In addition to being required to work on a regular basis, the role is flexible in terms of working hours as you may be called upon last minute to cover ceremonies.

You will be expected to develop a range of registration skills and abilities, relate well to people at times of emotional stress, and work to a high and meticulous standard.

The post holder will receive all training required to register and conduct ceremonies.

About You

Evidence of working in front facing role, enhanced organisational skills and the ability to understand and apply rules and the law.

Excellent communication and presentation skills particularly to small and large groups.

Self- confidence with the ability to work under pressure and able to think quickly to find solutions.

Evidence in working in a team in busy and changing environments.

Clear legible handwriting with the highest attention to detail, alongside good IT skills.
