Summary

Please note a full application including a covering letter detailing your experience alongside a CV is required for applications to be considered. Please be advised applications made without providing a cover letter will not be accepted.

At Christ Church we care about sport, health, and fitness and the people who we engage. We want to move people and create a sense of belonging through our activities and programmes. We have invested in multi-million-pound facilities, including our University Sport Centre with double sports hall, state of the art spin studio and gym and fitness facilities. Our gym is packed with modern fitness equipment, and we offer a wide range of fitness classes, personal training and an exercise referral service. We also deliver amazing programmes and interventions for sport, including our excellent sport scholarship programme and Club Sport programme in partnership with the Student’s Union. We like to innovate, challenge and change, all to provide our students and staff with a truly first-class experience of Sport & Active Health.

Duty Officers are responsible for the day to day running of the facility, working with members on reception and delivering classes, offering PT sessions and assisting with delivery of our social and student club sport offer. Being part of the Business Operations team, you will be working within the strategic goals and direction of the department in line with the University’s overall vision.

To be successful in this role you will ideally be experienced in working in a sports facility environment, preferably with PT qualifications and some administrative experience and be willing to be part of a team delivering the many activities that a Higher Education sport facility provides. An understanding of working in a Higher Education establishment would be advantageous. The role has no line management duties, but you will be expected to show initiative and be able to work autonomously when needed. You will be able to communicate on multiple levels and have experience working with the public.

How will you work?

This role is predominantly based on site in Canterbury, working in any of our delivery sites, on and off campus.
