Long Term Futures are seeking a resilient, proactive and committed Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the Quinton area.
This long-term role is based in a Year 5 class, working whole class alongside the teacher, with a strong focus on supporting pupils with SEND-related behavioural needs, including ASD, ADHD and ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder).
This is an excellent opportunity for someone confident in behaviour support who is looking for a stable, long-term position with the potential to become permanent.
The Role:
- Work whole class alongside the class teacher to support teaching and learning
- Provide consistent support for pupils with SEND-related behaviours, particularly ASD, ADHD and ODD
- Assist in implementing behaviour management strategies to maintain a calm, structured classroom environment
- Support learning through targeted interventions, small group work and in-class support
- Help pupils regulate emotions and access learning positively
- Support group intervention sessions as required
- Build strong relationships with pupils to promote engagement and progress
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the SEN team to ensure the best outcomes for pupils
- Develop an understanding of the school's curriculum, routines and inclusive approach
The Ideal Candidate:
- Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (or equivalent)
- At least 1 year's experience in a Key Stage Two primary setting
- Strong experience supporting pupils with SEND and challenging behaviour
- Confident working with pupils with ASD, ADHD and ODD
- A calm, consistent and proactive approach to behaviour management
- Able to work effectively as part of a team and adapt to the needs of the class
