A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I am a 16-year-old girl and I live in the Treorchy area of Rhondda Cynon Taff with my mum, brothers and our dog.
I have Cerebral Palsy, epilepsy and profound hearing loss. I also have a developmental delay.
I enjoy going swimming, walks in the park and visiting soft play centres with sensory lights.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
My mum is looking to employ Personal Assistants to provide me with one to one support to assist with my social development and allow Mum to have a break from caring for me.
She is looking to employ someone to help and support me at home and provide them with some respite and also to go out into the community and undertake social and leisure activities, helping to maintain my independence.
HOURS OF WORK
There are 25 hours per week available. This will include weekday mornings to get ready for school. Remaining times are flexible and can change from week to week.
RATE OF PAY
£14.00 per hour and 40p mileage allowance
TASKS CAN INCLUDE
A range of personal care, such as changing my nappy, assisting me to get dressed, bathing and washing my hair
Supporting with my morning routine, getting ready for school
Supporting me with my bedroom routine, making sure I’m clean and changing me into pyjamas
You will also support me in various social activities, going to places I like such as the local park, play centres and swimming
Engaging me in activities that are stimulating
Making sure I am safe at all times
Staying home with me on occasion, playing with me and keeping my mind and body active
Driving the family car
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
A person who is dependable and arrives on time
A person who respects the privacy and confidentiality of working in someone else’s home
Friendly and approachable
A full clean driving licence is essential as you may have to drive the family car, but will still need access to your own car
You will be comfortable working alongside my family and sometimes taking instruction from them
Patience and understanding is important
Someone who is outgoing, energetic and likes to have fun
Confident, with a mature attitude
Someone who is flexible and can work flexibly from week to week depending on when you’re needed
Someone who has experience working with children
Moving and handling training is desirable, but training can be given
Someone with knowledge of Cerebral Palsy and epilepsy
ABOUT THE JOB
This position is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS Disclosure (Police Check), which must be completed prior to the commencement of employment. The cost of this check will be covered by the Local Authority.
All necessary checks will be conducted to verify that any candidate has the legal right to work in the UK before employment begins.
Although this is a part-time role, it is a legitimate position requiring the submission of a National Insurance number. Employment will commence under an initial trial period.
Wages will be paid on a monthly basis and appropriate holiday pay will be provided.
