Summary

Senior Quantity Surveyor – Tier 1 Main Contractor (Commercial Build)

Location: Bury St Edmunds

Salary: £80-£85k + benefits

I’m currently working in partnership with a top-10, Tier 1 main contractor that is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to strengthen their commercial team. This contractor is a recognised market leader in large-scale commercial build projects, offering long-term stability, high-profile work, and genuine career progression.

This is a key senior role, suited to a commercially astute QS who is comfortable taking ownership of projects and leading commercial performance from pre-construction through to final account.

The role will include:

• Full commercial management of major commercial construction projects

  
  

• Leading cost control, procurement, and subcontractor management

  
  

• Managing valuations, variations, and final accounts

  
  

• Advising project teams on commercial strategy and risk

  
  

• Mentoring and supporting junior commercial staff

  
  

• Working closely with operational and senior leadership teams

  
  

  What my client is looking for:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor with a Tier 1 or large main contractor

    
    

  • Strong background in commercial build projects

    
    

  • Excellent knowledge of standard forms of contract

    
    

  • Confident stakeholder and subcontractor management skills

    
    

  • Experience on the DfE framework is highly advantageous, though not essential
