This pivotal role involves managing all aspects of the examination process, ensuring full compliance with Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) and awarding body regulations, and ensuring the smooth running of both internal and external examinations for all students.
The successful candidate will be a confident communicator with excellent administrative skills and the ability to work calmly under pressure and meet strict deadlines. Previous experience in an educational setting, specifically within exam administration, is essential.
Key Responsibilities
• Planning & Coordination: Manage the planning and delivery of all internal and external examinations, including creating schedules, coordinating room allocations, and arranging appropriate access arrangements for SEN students
• Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to all JCQ and awarding body rules and regulations, managing secure storage of exam materials and maintaining accurate records for potential inspections.
• Administration: Oversee the timely and accurate submission of all student entries, withdrawals, and change requests to examination boards, managing associated invoices and budgets.
• People Management: Recruit, train, and manage a team of external invigilators, ensuring appropriate staffing ratios and compliance with safeguarding requirements.
• Results & Post-Results: Plan for and manage the distribution of examination results to staff, students, and parents, coordinating post-results services such as remarks and appeals within published deadlines.
• Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for staff, students, parents, and external awarding bodies regarding all examination matters.
The Ideal Candidate
• Significant experience in an examinations officer or manager role within a UK educational setting.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the JCQ regulations and the examination cycle.
• Exceptional organisational, time-management, and data entry skills, with a meticulous attention to detail.
• Proficiency in using school MIS systems (e.g., Pro Solution) and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, problem-solve effectively, and respond to unexpected issues during peak exam periods.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
