We’re Hiring: Mentor / Tutor Flexible Hours | Alternative Provision
Location: Supermarine, Swindon – SN3 4BZ (and outreach locations)
Salary: Competitive, Full-Time Equivalent (FTE), dependent on experience and role
Hours: Highly flexible (primarily term time)
About Stride360
Stride360 delivers tailored mentoring, behaviour support, and educational provision for children and young people who require an alternative to mainstream education. Our work spans schools, the community, and our Alternative Provision site at Supermarine, Swindon. We support young people with SEMH needs, ADHD, ASD, and behavioural challenges to re-engage with learning and develop positive life skills.
We are expanding our team and are seeking Mentors and/or Tutors who are confident, resilient, and experienced in working with challenging behaviour within dynamic, fast-paced environments.
The Role
The role may include a combination of mentoring and educational support, depending on your skills and experience:
Delivering 1:1 and small-group mentoring sessions
Providing educational tutoring or learning support (where appropriate)
Supporting young people with emotional regulation, behaviour, and engagement
Working across our Alternative Provision site, schools, and community settings
Building consistent, trusted relationships with young people who may present with complex needs
Adapting sessions in response to behaviour, mood, and individual presentation
Maintaining clear boundaries, routines, and high expectations
Essential Requirements
Experience working with children or young people who display challenging behaviour
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, non-linear environment
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential due to location and outreach work)
Strong communication skills and emotional resilience
A flexible, proactive, and reliable approach
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
Desirable (but not essential)
Background in mentoring, tutoring, teaching, youth work, care, or alternative provision
Experience supporting SEMH, ADHD, ASD, or trauma-informed practice
Subject knowledge or tutoring experience in core or functional skills
