Job Title: Deputy Manager
Accountable to: Registered Manager
Responsible for: Children / Young Persons
Location: M14, Manchester
Job Type: Permanent, Full Time
Schedule: Rotating Shifts
Salary: £33,000–£46,000 depending on experience, plus £60 per sleep
Leave Entitlement: 28 days (in lieu of bank holidays)

Role Overview:
As an experienced Deputy Manager, you will play a key leadership role in supporting children and young people in a nurturing and structured home environment. You will support the Registered Manager in the day to day running of the home to ensure the home is Ofsted compliant. You will lead by example, offering guidance to the care team while ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and support that promotes positive outcomes
Key Responsibilities:
• Leadership: Lead shifts effectively, delegate responsibilities, and ensure the smooth operation of the home on a daily basis.
• Supervision: Support and mentor Residential Support Workers, promoting best practice and upholding high standards of care.
• Direct Support: Provide hands-on support to young people, assisting with daily routines, education, emotional well-being, and the development of life skills.
• Maintaining Structure: Create a safe, consistent, and nurturing environment to foster stability and growth for the young people in your care.
• Monitoring and Review: Oversee care plans, ensure accurate recording of progress, and maintain compliance with all care regulations and standards.
• Promoting Development: Encourage independence, confidence, and emotional resilience through tailored guidance and supportive interventions.
• Managing Behaviour: Respond to challenging behaviour calmly and professionally, using de-escalation techniques and a trauma-informed approach.
• Multi-agency Collaboration: Work collaboratively with families, social workers, schools, therapists, and other professionals to advocate for and support each young person's needs.
• Safeguarding: Ensure the safety and welfare of all young people, strictly adhering to safeguarding procedures and organisational policies.
• Support to Management: Assist the Registered Manager in delivering staff inductions, ongoing training, team meetings, appraisals, and other developmental activities.

• Hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or have completed part of the qualification if currently working towards it.
• Have previous experience in a deputy role within a residential childcare setting.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of safeguarding practices, children’s rights, and trauma-informed care.
• Possess excellent leadership, mentoring, and team-building skills.
• Be emotionally resilient, patient, and calm under pressure, with the ability to make sound decisions.
• Exhibit strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Be committed to fostering a warm, nurturing, and respectful environment for children and young people.
• Be flexible to work a shift-based rota, including evenings, weekends, and overnight stays.
