About the Role
We are looking to recruit a Control Centre Operator (Highways Control Room) to be part of a team responsible for the co-ordination of operational resources, planning and organising road repairs on day-to-day basis and occasionally during severe weather events across Leicestershire. You will need to have the skills to analyse information from highway databases and provide this information to colleagues and stakeholders as required.
A typical task of an operator would be programming sign repairs across the county with cost, efficiency and locality in mind, allowing operational teams to maximise their working day. This is a Hybrid role, predominantly home based, working within a small, friendly team as well as liaising with other teams across the department. This is not a customer facing role, but you should have an understanding of good customer service. You will be supported by knowledgeable experienced team members and full training will be provided.

About You
To apply for this post, you must have:
- Experience of working within highways, civil engineering, or street lighting setting.
- Experience of programming or scheduling works and the control of resources.
- Resolving enquiries in real time, feeding back to customers and other stakeholders, and building positive relationships across stakeholders, peers and partners, creating open and transparent relationships based on trust.
- Knowledge in using ICT systems and business processes to support the efficient delivery of services.
- Understanding of Current legislation, policies and procedures; Highways Act, NRSWA, Traffic Management Act, Traffic Regulation Act, CDM etc.
- Analytical and creative thinking skills.
- Be able to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English as this is essential for the post.
