We currently have two opportunities available: 1x Income Assistant and 1x Management Accountant. On application, please indicate if you have a preference for either role.

If you’re someone with the ambition and courage to make us outstanding, we’d love to hear from you. As an FSD Level 3 accredited Finance department, training and development is at the heart of what we are about. You must be studying towards and have ambitions to be a fully CCAB or CIMA qualified accountant or have a transferrable level of experience.

This exciting opportunity will allow the successful candidate to work in an engaging and forward-thinking organisation and be responsible for key objectives. The Management Accountant will support the Financial Management team in the provision of financial information, analysis and advice to managers and staff within the Trust in the most timely and effective manner.

We are looking for team players with excellent communication and relationship building skills to join the team. New staff can expect a warm welcome but will need to have the ability to build relationships with the team and division whilst working remotely for part of the working week. Applicants should be able to and be comfortable in working in this way as our ‘agile’ working principles continue to evolve.

Management Accountant:
• Ensuring comprehensive and timely monthly reporting of Directorates' financial position.
• Supporting the setting of the Directorate revenue budgets
• Assisting in the training of budget holders and managers in budgetary management and control.
• Assisting in the training and development of individuals within Financial Management.

Income Assistant:
• • Support the income team with day-to-day transactional activities, including invoicing, data processing, reconciliations, and income reporting.
• Maintain and update contract and patient-related income records in financial systems, ensuring timely recognition of income and cash inflows.
• Liaise with internal and external colleagues to resolve queries, improve data quality, and ensure timely recovery of income.
• Assist with monthly and annual financial returns, support statutory submissions, and contribute to financial planning processes.
• Build knowledge of NHS income processes and provide analysis, exception reporting, and customer-focused service in line with Trust values.

We’re a humble Trust. But we know what makes us good: our clinical performance and sound operations - rooted in patient safety, robust governance and continuous quality improvement; our highly engaged staff, whose passion for patient care creates a palpable, warm and welcoming spirit and the innovative way we work with our partners. We are good - the CQC recognised this in April 2019 our staff tells us this every time we ask them. But we want to be outstanding. Not for ourselves, but for the communities we serve.

Bolton is a special place, part of the Greater Manchester family but with a robust identity of its own; communities that are rich in their diversity but unified in the shared characteristics of friendliness, compassion and resilience. They deserve outstanding services.

We have clear ambitions for our finance function to be the very best it can be and need a new Management Accountant in Finance to help guide and shape that journey for both the Trust and the Divisions. We are seeking individuals with excellent communication skills and an ability to learn quickly and adapt under pressure. The role requires an individual who can use their initiative to deal with a constantly changing and challenging dynamic.
