The Team

The Business Development Office (BDO) leads on employer engagement and apprenticeship delivery, working closely with York St John Business School to provide high-quality degree apprenticeships. The team collaborates with employers, academic colleagues, and external partners to ensure apprenticeships meet industry needs and deliver exceptional learner experiences.

The Role

As a Work Based Learning Tutor, you will play a pivotal role in supporting apprentices enrolled on programmes such as the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship, Project Manager Degree Apprenticeship, and Senior Leaders Apprenticeship.

You will:

Act as the key point of contact for apprentices, employers, and university teams.

Lead scheduled learning reviews and assessments, both on-campus and remotely.

Support apprentices in developing learning plans, portfolios, and preparing for the end-point assessment.

Facilitate progression and achievement through regular review meetings and effective communication with employers.

Provide pastoral support and guidance to maximise engagement and success.

This is a field-based role requiring autonomy, strong organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple caseloads across diverse locations.

Work Pattern: Monday to Friday as standard, with flexibility required. Regular out-of-hours working, including evenings and occasional weekends, to accommodate learner and employer needs.

Required Skills and Experience

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

A first degree or equivalent occupational experience.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to network and build relationships with multiple stakeholders.

Strong organisational skills to manage time effectively and prioritise workloads.

Experience of employer engagement and supporting learning in workplace settings.

Proactive, solution-focused problem-solving abilities and effective facilitation skills.

A recognised teaching or assessment qualification and coaching/mentoring experience are desirable.

Enhanced DBS check required
