You will have access to a company van and fuel card - giving you everything you need to travel between sites without the hassle.
The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week, 08.00 – 17.00 with an hour earlier finish every Friday. There is a need to work 1 in 3 weekends, but this would be on a rota basis (and with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary), and part of an on-call rota.
At Amey, we’re supporting our justice client, His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) by providing them with safe, clean and efficient prisons. By using our facilities management expertise, we help keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly. As part of our mobile engineering team, you’ll be making a meaningful impact every day, working in environments where your expertise directly supports critical services. You’ll tackle technical challenges, deliver mission-critical services, and work alongside a team of expert engineers.
What you will do:
Complete daily, weekly, monthly, and annual PPM and reactive maintenance tasks to ensure all statutory and mandatory compliance is met across the prisons in your region.
Act as the Responsible Person for electrical systems across your sites, supervising, controlling, and managing electrical works to maintain safe and compliant operations.
Undertake the role of Authorised Person (AP) and manage electrical isolations and permit‑to‑work processes in line with Amey’s Electrical Safety Procedures.
Review electrical installation certification (EICRs, Installation Certificates, Minor Works).
Produce technical documentation including SOPs, risk assessments, method statements, and toolbox talks.
Assess competence of directly employed operatives and supply chain partners before work is issued.
Review contractor RAMS and provide technical electrical support to site teams.
Maintain site risk registers, identify and escalate defects, and contribute to risk meetings.
Liaise with Authorising Engineers, maintain your AP logbook and proactively manage your personal training and development plan.
Follow all Amey/MOJ/HMPPS security protocols, including strict tool management.
Carry out additional duties such as escorting where required.
What you will bring:
City & Guilds 2367 or 2357 (or equivalent)
City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing
BS7671 (18th Edition) – 17th Edition considered with upskilling
