Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to become a medical secretary within the gastroenterology team at Southend Hospital.
If successful, you will provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support within the secretarial team including audio transcription and word processing of clinical letters and will be the first point of contact for patients, consultants, and staff throughout the Trust.
This position requires excellent communication skills, dedication to exceptional patient care and service, the ability to meet the demands of working in a busy environment and be able to represent their team and department with the professionalism expected from all our staff.

Your main responsibilities will be to provide comprehensive secretarial support within the Department of Gastroenterology and support the demands of the service as required.
You will need the ability to independently manage and prioritise workload, using sound judgement to determine urgency and escalate matters appropriately, transcribe clinical audio recordings with attention to detail and confidentiality, respond to general enquiries and appointment queries via telephone and email from staff, patients, and the public with a courteous, sensitive, and diplomatic approach.
You will work closely with departmental supervisors/managers in order to understand the team priorities on a day-to-day basis, edit and/or type clinical letters, track and escalate test results, complete clinic outcomes, process internal new referrals and support any other secretarial or administrative task within the clerical team.
