Summary
We wish to recruit a Doctor to complement our senior middle-grade rota and provide cover for the Obstetrics & Gynaecology service. Specifically, we wish to strengthen our specialist services in the areas of high-risk obstetrics in line with national recommendations. We would also like to develop our specialist gynaecology services, including complex endometriosis and rapid access work.
The post holder will have some dedicated sessions assigned to support robotics surgery.
The post-holder will have facilities such as internet, intranet and EPR access to support clinical, administrative, teaching, CPD and audit activities at both sides of the Trust. There are departmental secretaries to support the general needs of the department, including the preparation of clinic letters and reports.

Fordcombe Hospital, near Tunbridge Wells, became part of the Trust in October 2024. Specialising in planned care, it offers two operating theatres, 28 inpatient and day-care beds, diagnostic services (X-ray, MRI, CT, and endoscopy), and consultation/treatment rooms.

5. Toparticipateactivelyindepartmentalaudits,sharingco-ordinationofauditactivitieswithinthedepartmentandimplementationofchange.
6. To takeanactiveresponsibilityforundergraduateandpostgraduateteaching,trainingandsupervision.
7. Toassumeresponsibility,bothpersonallyandcorporately, withconsultantcolleagues,forthemanagementofjuniormedicalstaff.Youareexpectedtobeinvolvedintheirprofessionaldevelopment,bothclinicaland personal, asperguidancefromHEEKSS andGMC.
8. Toensurethatalldoctorsintrainingforwhomyouhavesupervisoryresponsibilitiesundertakedelegatedclinicaltasks thatarewithintheirlevelofcompetenceandknowledge.
9. ToensureatalltimesthatyoucomplywiththeGeneralMedicalCouncil’spublishedguide“GoodMedicalPractice,” includingtheDutiesofaDoctor.
10. Totakepersonalresponsibilityforriskmanagementinyourworkandundertaketoreviewpracticesandlearnfrommistakes.
11. Toshareinthe‘on-call’rota.Toprovideprospectivecoverforcolleaguesduringannualandstudyleaveandotherabsencesasfarasispracticableandclinicallysafe.
12. Toensurethatyourespondpromptlyandefficientlytoallcomplaintsrelatedtoanypatientcareyouoryourstaffhavebeeninvolvedwith,assistingtheTrust’scorporateresponsibilitytoreplytocomplaintswithinaspecifiedtimeframe.
13. Toensurethatyoudevelopandmaintaineffectiveworkingrelationshipswiththoseagenciesconcernedwiththeprovisionofhealthandsocialcareservicesandthoserepresentingtheinterestsofpatients.
14. ToundertakeanannualappraisalleadingtoapersonaldevelopmentplanasoutlinedintheTrustAppraisalPolicy.YoumustcollectandmaintainsufficientevidencetosupporttheappraisalprocessandyourGMCrevalidation.Theappraisalwillinformthestudyleaveandjobplanningprocesses.
15. ToundertakeanannualjobplanreviewasoutlinedintheTrustGuidetoJobPlanning.
16. Youarerequiredtotakereasonablecareforthehealthandsafetyofyourselfandotherswhomaybeaffectedbywhatyoudowhileatwork.YoumustadheretoTrustIRMERRegulations.
17. Involvementinthedevelopmentofclinicalmanagementprotocolssharedwiththecommunityandother consultant colleagues.
